Steve Casey's woodworking career began
in a night school wood shop class that
he took in 1974 at the age of nineteen.
Excited by the medium and wanting to learn more about the field,
Casey enrolled
in the Art Department at C.S.U. Northridge to study wood and
design.
While in school, Steve put himself through a self-imposed apprenticeship program
and also worked for part time for various local woodworkers.
He was hired
in 1976 by a small furniture manufacturer
and was eventually responsible for the entire factory line and all custom
orders. While working and completing classes at C.S.U.N.,
Steve pooled his
resources with a fellow wood student and opened up
his own business. Inspired by the
woodworking studio craftsmen of the day, Casey spent most
of his early career designing and constructing original work for shows and
competitions. In 1978 Casey quit school and his job to pursue the custom woodworking business
full time as a designer /craftsman. Thirty years later Casey
continues the tradition of the studio craftsmen that inspired him in the 70's.
In recent times, Steve has become a nationally published author sharing his
unique experience and expertise designing and building custom home theater
furniture and cabinetry.
